Worship at St Georges Church
altar at St Georges Church

Worship is unashamedly modern with only occasional use of the organ and led by a band with an orchestra mainly of young people. The atmosphere is informal but a proper reverence is maintained.

On Sunday mornings all hymns and songs are displayed using Power Point, using Mission Praise, Songs of Fellowship, Fresh Fields and many other publications. There is a very talented group of young musicians who lead in the morning worship during term time. There is also a Children's Church for various ages, held separately at the same time as the main service, but with the children remaining when there is a Family service. The uniformed groups are well represented attending Church Parade three times a year.

The main outreach through the church, apart from its constant use as a hall for clubs and activities, is through the Net and the Late Night Net. These clubs are run by many helpers and cater for young people in the age ranges 8 — 15 and are well attended. There is also a young peoples fellowship with a membership of over 20 and who run regular bi-monthly youth services.

The main issue for the church as for many other similar churches is how to convert enthusiasm into Christian commitment and the experience of others in this area will always be welcome.

In August 2007 we were delighted to add our Benefice Youth Worker, Peter Hawkins to our strength. Whilst mainly working with St George's church, his enthusiasm and skills will be used to enhance our work with the young throughout the Benefice.

Thanks for visiting and God be with you.
